Complaints
How to complain
If you are unhappy with any aspect of the service, please say so. Complaints should be sent to Roger Newby at rogernewbyconsulting@gmail.com. Say what went wrong and what outcome you are looking for.
What happens next
- Acknowledgement within three working days.
- Investigation of the points you raise, with the opportunity to discuss them by phone if you wish.
- Full written response within 28 days, or an explanation and a revised date if the investigation genuinely needs longer.
A complaint about service is different from disagreement with an opinion. The opinion in a report is the expert's independent view, owed to the court, and is not changed because a party disagrees with it; the proper route for challenging it is through the procedure rules (written questions, a joint statement or cross-examination).
Escalation
Expert witness work is not a regulated legal service and the Legal Ombudsman does not deal with complaints about experts. Complaints about professional conduct may be raised with the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. For complaints about how personal data was handled, you can contact the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
